6 "Bookstagram" accounts for any book-lover

Much like Puppygram, Foodgram and Travelgram, Bookstragram has gained momentum over the years on the social media platform, Instagram. Bookstagram is a community of individuals with one thing in common - their love of books! The following list includes six accounts of “Bookstagrammers” who cater to a wide-variety of genres and groups.

Let me know in the comments who your favorite Bookstagrammers are.… Happy following!

  1. @feminist_bookshelf - On top of having an absolutely gorgeous feed, the manager of this account, Janine, provides a meaningful and thoughtful array of books focused on "celebrating diverse authors, characters, & themes through an intersectional feminist lens." Each of her posts states the rank of the books out of five on both her personal scale and a "feminism scale." My favorite recommendation - Such a Fun Age, by Kiley Reid

2. @Bookmarkedbyerin - This account includes reviews and recommendations for a wide variety of fiction novels, from horror all the way to historical fiction. It is run by Erin, who is refreshingly honest in her reviews - she does not shy away from telling it like it is! She updates her "current read" frequently and is taking part in the 2022 book challenge. My favorite recommendation of Erin's - The Wife Between Us, by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.

3. @oyindalovesbooks - This account is run by Oyinda, a black digital creat0r and self-proclaimed bookstagrammer. Her mission is to amplify BIPOC books and authors, which she definitely fulfills just from taking a peek at her feed. Oyinda reviews and recommends novels from every category - fantasy, romance, thriller, nonfiction - making her feed the most well-rounded in this list. One of the best features on her feed are the toggles directly on many of her posts about what aspects she was drawn to. My favorite recommendation of Oyinda's - The Henna Artist, by Alka Joshi.

4. @readingthroughworlds - This account is run by a woman named Cindy. Cindy is relatively new to the bookstagram community, starting her account this past September. Her expertise is fantasy, and her recommendations are sure to catch the eye of anyone who prefers to be transported from reality when reading! One of my favorite recommendations of her's - Circe, by Madeline Miller.

5. @deepdivethis - This account is run by a Chicago native, Ky. He reviews a wide-variety of books, but his favorite genres are thriller/mystery and nonfiction. He is part of a book club and usually includes his own personal review and rating, along with his club's rating. You can find adorable pictures of Ky's pug, Halliwell sprinkled throughout his feed! Ky also likes to recreate book covers to give them his own creative twist! One of my favorite recommendations of his - Finlay Donovan is Killing It, by Elle Cosimano.

6. @darkbookrecs - This account focusses on novels that breach an array of tough subjects: murder, assault, mental illness and addiction. Right off the bat, the account includes a trigger warning in the bio, so readers be warned. Among all the heavy reads, the account also includes fun tiktok videos like shop-a-longs and TBRs (to be read) as well as giveaways! My favorite recommendation - The Other Woman, by Sandie Jones.
